Affordable housing is one of the most complex and urgent challenges facing Vancouver today, and we're committed to building a city that families of all backgrounds can afford to call their home.
Vision Vancouver has a comprehensive plan that invests in building housing options across the spectrum. We’ve invested in new shelters and housing for the homeless. We’ve enabled new rental housing, giving young families an opportunity to live in Vancouver. We’ve sought creative models like new co-ops, co-housing, and laneway homes to meet the demand for an affordable homes in Vancouver, and recently passed stronger requirements for family housing in new developments.
We’ve made important progress together, but we also need the Provincial and Federal governments to take urgent action to help make housing affordable for people on a range of incomes.
Your Vision Vancouver team is eager to hear from you about what tools and ideas should be pursued as we continue to tackle this challenge.
Join Councillor Geoff Meggs for conversation on what more can be done to tackle housing affordability.
